Lita Rossana Ford (or Lita Ford as she is popularly known, was an American-born British musician and vocalist who was the leader of the only female hard rock group The Runaways during the late 1970s. The group did not have any fans in their home country of the United States. However, their popularity grew overseas, particularly in Japan. Ford started a metal solo career following the band's was disbanded in 1979. After taking voice lessons, Ford released her first solo album "Out for Blood" and then "Dancin in the Edge". Both albums failed to receive much success and Ford was largely absent from the rock world for a few years. The singer returned in 1988 with her wildly successful album 'Lita, which debuted in 1988. Kiss Me Deadly was a huge hit as was the ballad Close My Eyes Forever and Kiss Me Deadly. However, the popularity of her career was not lasting and over the course of several years she went under the radar. She re-emerged with the release of 'Black in 1995, and then 'Wicked Wonderland' nearly 15 years after. in 2016, the latest album'Time Capsule' was released. Guitar Player Magazine gave her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
